Parks and recreation report: Gipp Arena repairs, concert series rebounds, unused concession equipment to be sold

Jeff Erickson, reporting for Recreation/Parks/Beautification, said maintenance is underway at the Gipp Arena, with patching planned for holes in the zamboni area and routine service (oil change, washbar replacement) required for the zamboni. He reported youth from the SAIL program helped paint Village Hall and that Little League and Men’s League have paid annual fees; those funds will be used to upgrade one ballfield at a time.
Erickson said the Music in the Park series is going well after a smoke-related cancellation the prior week; concerts are well attended, donations have increased and sponsorships were strong. He recommended selling an unused oven and fridge in the concession stand via online marketplace to recoup costs.
