County accepts $200,000 recreational trails grant for Huntertown park path

Parks and Recreation director Rich Pickter told the fiscal court Huntertown Community Interpretive Park was awarded a $200,000 Recreational Trails Program grant to build an accessible walking path; he asked the judge to sign all grant award documents so the county may proceed with federal approvals. "We were awarded that $200,000 grant to Woodford County so we could start the process," Pickter said, noting federal reviews and the involvement of multiple agencies will mean construction is not immediate.
County officials applauded Parks staff for securing the grant and noted the project is one of several park improvements funded in cash rather than by bonding. The court moved to authorize the judge executive to sign grant documents and the motion carried.
