The Woodford County Fiscal Court opened its meeting by recognizing local and neighboring first responders who fought the Wilson's Pool Room fire, praising their teamwork and the fact there were no fatalities. "And thank God, in the work of these brave heroes, there were no fatalities in the Wilsons' pool room fire," the judge said as he read a roll call of responding firefighters and volunteers.
Versailles Fire Chief T.A. Rankin told the court the response illustrated strong community partnerships. "It truly was a testament to this community and the people who live here, the people who serve here," Rankin said, thanking departments and volunteer leaders who supported the response. The judge also noted downtown businesses and local charities rallied support, raising more than $33,500 to assist fire survivors.
The court asked maintenance and county staff to coordinate next steps for recognizing responders and to share details of community support efforts with local recovery groups.
