Round Up returns July 2; commission lines up nonprofit outreach and fundraising

Commissioners announced that the Round Up series will revive on Thursdays beginning July 2 on the town green. Organizers plan to invite a different nonprofit each week to use the event for fundraising or outreach; ideas include raffles, merchandise sales and informational tables. Andrea Henderson and Kim Phelan said they can staff the July 9 Round Up to promote knotweed awareness.
The commission also noted an upcoming community event: Friends of the Mad River will host an Irene Recovery anniversary gathering on Aug. 27 from 3 to 5 p.m. Commissioners asked members to consider which groups to invite to Round Up and suggested Lawson's sell tote bags with proceeds shared with participating organizations. No formal votes were recorded.
