Commissioners reported progress on the Chase Brook Management Plan: Brian Litmans and Ky met on June 10 to identify remaining items and said the commission aims to complete a first draft by the end of July. Ky is preparing the ecological sections while Brian will compile the remainder with input from other members.
Commissioners also described recent maintenance: pollinator garden weeding, seeding and planting have been completed with some donated plants; mulch that was mistakenly applied as hay was removed. Members noted Central Vermont pest treatment at McCullough Barn occurred on June 10 and that the next scheduled treatment is Aug. 5. The Selectboard approved the commission's updated rental-use policy on June 9, which commissioners said emphasizes protecting natural areas and following leave-no-trace principles. Jessica Knoop of Fayston Forest Camp spoke to the commission and said children at the camp "will play upstream from the bridge accessed by the stairs and not on the steep bank," noting efforts to reduce impacts from camp activities.
