MRV Bear Initiative: Fayston commission to host May 2 bear workshop and honor Margo Wade

Fayston Conservation Commission will host a bear workshop on May 2 at the MRV Rec Hub with stations on electric fencing, native-planting and other bear-safe practices; a Kilham Bear Center cub will be named for Margo Wade and MRV Rec District is the new fiscal host.
The commission reported that the MRV Bear Initiative will name a bear cub from the Kilham Bear Center in honor of Margo Wade and will host a Bear Workshop in conjunction with the Green Valley Rally at MRV Rec Hub on May 2.
Workshop stations will include demonstrations and information on electric fencing for chickens and bees, gardening with native plants to attract birds, proper bird-feeder placement, trash management and other perennial bear issues. The minutes note two BearSaver receptacles currently installed at Lareau Swim Hole and Bridge Street stewardMRV sites and discussion of a possible third receptacle at the Rec Hub.
The record also notes MRV Rec District is the new fiscal host for MRVBI and that an HUUSD intern, Casey Klus, will be working with MRVBI. The commission plans to collaborate with libraries on Poetry Month in support of outreach.
