Fayston, UVM and Interns Ramp Up Knotweed Removal with Measurement Plots and Work Parties

The commission outlined Knotweed Work Party dates and outreach plans: June 3 (work party 4–6 p.m.), June 17 (4–6 p.m.), June 24 (Fayston 8 a.m.–2 p.m., no evening work party), July 8 and July 22 (midday 12–2 p.m.), and Aug. 5 (4–6 p.m.). Interns will table at at least three Farmers Markets (likely June 13, July 11, Aug. 1). The minutes state the project will use staked rebar plots to measure knotweed presence, biomass, stem diameter, presence of other natives/invasives, and time to manage infestations; new knotweed sickles will be ordered for the season.
