Fayston planning commission signals major Town Plan overhaul, aims for 2028 deadline

Davidson and commission members said the 2020 plan received only minor tweaks until COVID and that recent events—particularly flooding—warrant substantive changes. The planning commission is circulating a community survey before Town Meeting; town population is about 1,300 and officials said they hope for a large response to inform revisions.
Members emphasized that the Town Plan functions as a directive for action and provides authority for the Planning Commission to develop zoning regulations. Commissioners asked conservation members to read Chapter 3 closely and to focus on goals and objectives that could be incorporated into the draft.
The commission did not set a public deadline in the minutes beyond the 2028 target. Next procedural steps noted in the meeting record include data-sharing between commission staff and the Planning Commission to incorporate conservation priorities into chapter language.
