Special-events liquor license approved for December fundraiser at Joyland Church

The board held a public hearing and approved a special-events liquor application for an event scheduled Dec. 7 at Joyland Church. Staff confirmed the application was complete and that it had been publicly noticed in the Pikes Peak Courier and posted at town hall.
Gina Halesca, who identified herself as "the president and founder of Eli Equine Rescue in Colorado Springs," said the event will celebrate the ribbon-cutting of a second facility operated in partnership with the Kirkpatrick Family Foundation and will include a fundraiser where the organization will serve wine and spirits. "We will be having a ceremony to be followed by a fundraiser event at the Joyland Church," she said.
Trustees asked logistical questions about the lease with the church and liquor responsibilities; the applicant said liquor service is the responsibility of the event organizer and the rental agreement covers the arrangement. The board moved and approved the application by voice vote.
