The House Higher Education Subcommittee removed several bills from both calendars and moved the lottery calendar to its final meeting for the year so members could review lottery proceeds and compare competing spending proposals.
Chairman McBee said the committee had a practice of hearing the lottery calendar at the committee's final meeting "so that we can be informed about lottery proceeds and also compare all the different bills that would spend those dollars all at the same time." On that calendar, sponsors requested that House Bill 777 and House Bill 738 be taken off notice; the chair acknowledged those requests and proceeded.
Earlier in the meeting, the chair recorded that House Bill 673, House Bill 1386 and House Bill 663 were taken off notice on the first calendar. After making a motion and receiving a second, the chair stated, "Without objection, we will roll this lottery calendar to our final meeting." The committee adjourned after completing those items.
