Resident says planning discussion was handled in executive session; Select Board apologizes and will review recording

David Salvo told the Select Board he received a notice saying his complaint had been handled in executive session and that, in his view, the handling violated open-meeting law because the complaint should have been read and adjudicated in public. "An open meeting violation cannot be discussed in executive session," Salvo said, and asked the board to put the complaint on the public record.
Board members said they addressed the topic in executive session at the prior meeting, read Peter Greenbush's resignation in open session and planned to notify other boards about open-meeting requirements. The board offered a public apology if the procedure had violated statute and agreed to review the recorded planning commission meeting and staff notes to determine next steps. Salvo said he may escalate the matter to the Attorney General or Superior Court if he does not receive remedy.
The board committed to consider the complaint for public minutes and to request listening to the recording together to confirm whether procedure was followed.
