Selectboard opts to solicit quotes, not sealed bids, for mowing and spring cleanup

Selectboard members discussed whether to put mowing and grounds‑cleanup work out to sealed bid or to request quotes. Chair (S5) opened discussion, noting it was "getting that time of year," and board members agreed to split the work into two descriptions: routine roadside mowing and a separate spring cleanup along the fence line and north/south property lines.

Members argued that prices are low and the administrative cost of a full bidding process may outweigh savings. One board member urged a local contractor be considered if an extra‑work quote is expensive. The board agreed Laurie would request quotes and email the results to members for consideration; if the cleanup quote was excessive, the board said the town would consider assigning the work to an in‑town contractor.
