Board proclaims Sept. 28–Oct. 6 as Creek Week; Fountain Creek Watershed District seeks local participation

Ali Shook, executive director of the Fountain Creek Watershed District (speaking remotely), asked trustees to adopt a proclamation recognizing Creek Week and encouraging local participation in cleanup events scheduled Sept. 28–Oct. 6. Shook said the district has engaged more than 25,000 volunteers over 10 years and removed about 150 tons of trash during prior Creek Weeks, and he thanked Jay Kiddo and Jesse of Green Mountain Arts for their local coordination. "In our 10 years of facilitating Creek Week, we've engaged over 25,000 volunteers in removing a 150 tons of trash," Shook said.
Trustee (speaker 5) moved to approve the proclamation and the board voted aye by voice. Staff and trustees encouraged local groups to sign up and noted Green Mountain Falls was planning a local cleanup during Creek Week.
