Public-works staff asked trustees to authorize spending $24,990 from general-fund reserves to buy a six-wheel-drive replacement truck offered by a private seller; staff said the truck has lower hours and mileage than the current F750, an automatic transmission, and the capacity to be equipped with magnesium-chloride tanks and a plow. "This vehicle is 6 wheel drive...it has an automatic transmission making it easier to operate as well," staff said.
Trustees confirmed the purchase does not require a commercial driver’s license because the vehicle falls under the 26,001-pound CDL threshold on the relevant axle configuration and approved the expenditure by voice vote. Staff said the town would likely send the old truck to auction.
