The United Nations said the World Food Programme completed this month's food distributions for nearly 73,000 displaced people in Sheikhan locality, including the state capital El Obeid, and that partners reached more than 10,000 people in Mukjar locality with health, water and sanitation services.
The spokesman also highlighted disease and damage concerns: health authorities and WHO are responding to a dengue outbreak with more than 1,000 cases and five related deaths reported in Blue Nile State, and flooding has damaged more than 600 homes in Rabak locality. He said this year's humanitarian appeal for Sudan remains about 40% funded, with more than $1.1 billion received of nearly $2.9 billion requested.
