Wyoming Area students honored for state and national competition finishes

The board recognized two recent student achievements. Dr. Platt announced that William Van Aken, a Wyoming Area student from the Westside Career and Technology Center electrical construction program, placed first at the state SkillsUSA competition and advanced to nationals where he placed fifth. "He placed 5th in the nation in this so congratulations," Dr. Platt said.
Dr. Platt also congratulated Gwen Wikizier for receiving a rating of excellence at a recent festival performance, which qualifies her for the state FESP conference in Altoona this fall. Board members and attendees offered congratulations and applause during the recognition segment.
