Vanessa Smith of Exeter asked the board whether the district's state aid increased compared with the prior school year. "Do you know if our amount that we received has gone up or down since the previous school year?" she asked during the public-comment period.
Mr. Malone replied, "it actually increased about $490,000," and explained the figure had been presented in budget scenarios. Board and staff clarified federal funding stayed about the same. Board members further explained that some proposed figures (about $50,000) had been projection scenarios and that state aid is received over the course of the school year rather than as a single lump sum.
