New police commander sworn in; police and fire present recent activity statistics

Village Clerk Karen Wingfield-Bond swore in Commander Dustin Warren during the Oct. 22 meeting; Trustee Kirk Marshall commended the new commander during public-safety remarks. The police report presented activity since the last board meeting (Oct. 8): 217 traffic stops, 8 arrests, 1 gun recovered, 516 building checks, 10 domestic incidents and 147 ordinance violations, totaling 1,181 calls for service. The police department also described a Halloween STEP traffic-safety campaign running Oct. 18–Nov. 1 and announced an annual Veterans Day luncheon on Nov. 12 for which residents must RSVP with Cmdr. Weinbrecht.
The Fire Department reported 79 calls between Oct. 8 and Oct. 21, including 64 medical runs, mutual-aid responses and several fire-related incidents. Deputy Chief John Swanson (transcript also referenced the deputy chief as Swaney in an earlier entry) gave the department report and said the Fire Prevention Open House on Oct. 12 drew an estimated 100 attendees. No disciplinary issues or major operational changes were reported during the meeting.
