Trustees voted to adopt Resolution No. 24-22, which sets the estimated amounts the village plans to levy for the fiscal year beginning May 1, 2024, and ending April 30, 2025. Trustee David Lilly moved to waive first and second readings and Trustee Cynthia Eaves seconded; the roll call vote was recorded as Ayes: Eaves, Lilly, Blakey, Clark and Marshall.
Attorney Boyle told the board this year’s levy estimate was brought forward earlier than in past years because of a change in procedure, saying, “this Resolution is brought to the Board earlier due to a new process/law.” The resolution is a routine, annual step in the property-tax code to set estimated levy amounts; the board did not identify changes to specific levy lines during the meeting.
The adoption of the levy estimate does not itself set final tax rates; it forwards the estimate for any required public notices and later adoption steps under state law. The board took the vote with Trustee Sherri Dunlap recorded absent on the motion.
