The Davenport City Council on March 25 approved a $2,500 tourism grant for Davenport Pioneer Days and postponed action on a separate request from organizers of a proposed Tail Feathers & Wheels Fly-in.
Lance Strite moved to approve the Pioneer Days grant; Mike Wilkinson seconded and the motion carried. Council member Cory Hollis then moved to amend the resolution by tabling the Tail Feathers & Wheels request, saying the council needed more information; Lance Strite seconded and that motion also carried. The council left the Tail Feathers & Wheels application open for further detail rather than awarding grant funds at the meeting.
Organizers Mark and Lydia Vlk told the council they have formed an organization called "Tail Feathers & Wheels Fly-in," have applied for 501(c)(3) status and want to hold a "Tail Feather and Wheels Annual Swap Meet" at the Davenport Airport on Aug. 29–30, 2026. The council did not commit city tourism funds for that event at the March 25 meeting.
