Council approves revised Lodging Tax application; Chamber says Datafi partnership will aid attendance estimates

Electric City's council reviewed and approved updates to the Lodging Tax Application on Feb. 11, with members saying the revised form contains the right questions to determine whether entities qualify for lodging-tax funds. Staff will distribute application packets by the end of February.
Nancy Boord, representing the Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce, told the council the Chamber has partnered with Datafi, a company that collects consumer information at festivals and events. That partnership is intended to help local tourism entities estimate attendance, a requirement of the Washington State Department of Commerce for recipients of lodging-tax grants.
The minutes record agreement that the new application will provide helpful information for awarding lodging-tax funds; no dollar amounts or award decisions were recorded at the Feb. 11 meeting.
