Alongside the dispute over closures, meeting participants laid out several operational pain points that complicate shared use of the building.
Participants discussed the janitorial contract (in place through July 1) and whether future custodial duties, snow clearing and parking rights for library patrons should be part of any shared-use protocol. Resident (S9) and Chair (S2) noted that sidewalk clearance and designated parking for patrons during overlapping school and library hours are recurring problems, especially on Saturdays or snow days.
School board members said some janitorial and support staff remain on site for snow days and noted union and contract constraints can affect coverage. The boards agreed to clarify who will perform snow removal and front-walk clearing on days the library is open and to revisit parking signage for patrons during busy pick-up and drop-off times.
No formal reassignment of duties occurred; the groups agreed to follow up through joint communications and by checking existing cleaning-service contracts.
