Benicia planning commission welcomes three new members

The Planning Commission opened with introductions from three newly seated commissioners. "I'm Evan Gorman. I was, I used to work as a planner here at the city of Benicia," Gorman said, adding he wants the commission to "empower the commission to know what levers we have to pull" and to encourage public participation.
Brandon Marshall said he is a local architect and a former chair of the Historic Preservation Commission who plans to bring design experience to land-use decisions. "Happy to be here and ready to contribute," he said. Christina Gilpin Hayes said she recently moved to Benicia and brings a long background in law and finance.
The chair welcomed the new commissioners and urged them to participate actively. The introductions preceded routine business, including adoption of the agenda and a roll-call vote that established a quorum. The new members will participate in upcoming items on zoning and housing policy, including a zoning-text update on the city’s density-bonus rules.
