Council hears audit, DNR land, lodging tax and security updates

City auditors from the State Auditor's office have begun the audit of the city's 2021–2023 accountability procedures and the 2023 financial reporting; the minutes note auditors expect the review to be completed by the end of February.
Mayor Diane Kohout reported she met with a Department of Natural Resources representative to discuss options for developing or maintaining DNR land inside city limits. The council was also advised that the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee application for 2025 will be presented at the February meeting if the council desires amendments, and staff said Ring cameras at City Hall will be alarmed whenever the building is unoccupied.
