The Planning Commission unanimously approved a request to vacate a public utility easement for the property near 1025 W 3000 N on March 26.
Staff noted that Connext, Opticloop and CenturyLink had not responded to notices about the easement vacation but also stated, "There are no current utilities in the easement." The City Administrator explained the proposed easement relocation ties into a nearby road construction project that will include a new easement; utilities can be run through the future road alignment.
Commissioner Manya Speelman asked what would happen if a utility later declined the vacation; staff said the situation is not fully clear and that the city is effectively relocating the easement as part of the road project. Commissioner John Morris moved to approve; Commissioner Manya Speelman seconded and the vote was unanimous. The action was recorded as approved as presented.
