The Jaffrey Select Board opened a public hearing July 15 on a proposal to sell 12 Union Street, a land-locked parcel owned by John Peard. Town Manager Jon Frederick told the board the parcel is separated from Community Field by a fence and a 20-foot easement and that Peard is willing to purchase the lot at an amount consistent with the Town Assessor's valuation.
Frederick said state law and town procedure require two public hearings and approvals from both the Conservation Commission (Concom) and the Planning Board; he reported those committees have met and recommended the sale. Chairman Charles Turcotte closed the hearing after there were no public comments and the board scheduled the required second public hearing for the July 29 Select Board meeting. The board discussed procedural next steps but took no final vote on the sale at this session.
