Chair Donald Collins told the board that the district’s financial position is more positive than anticipated: General Fund actuals show $377,147 versus a budgeted $262,578; Transportation funds currently reflect $138,777 in actuals (budgeted at $0); and ASB actuals were $3,284 versus a $2,440 budget. Collins described the overall status as more positive than anticipated.
Principal Katie Chavarria said staff are still awaiting some state testing results but reported preliminary increases of 7% in English Language Arts and 18% in Math. The board expressed that they were pleased with those early results. Chavarria also said teachers chose to delay adopting a new social studies curriculum because available options were not sufficiently inclusive and that the incoming PE teacher may inform future curriculum choices.
