Commissioners say Broadway TIF will supply local match for Catherine Street project

Commission staff told the Merrillville Redevelopment Commission that the local 20% match for the Catherine Street sidewalk and drainage project is expected to come from the Broadway TIF allocation. The acting street director said the spending plan can be modified during the year to include the project’s local match.
When asked directly whether TIF money would be involved, staff confirmed "the local match will have to come from allocation in TASI. The TIF. Broadway TIF." Commissioners asked staff to confirm the allocation and to return with any required spending-plan changes before the town commits to construction-phase contracts.
