Jupiter Inlet Colony schedules budget hearings; millage rate remains at 5.56 mills

Town staff told the Jupiter Inlet Colony commission that the schedule for the fiscal-year 2026–2027 budget hearings has changed and that the town is not proposing a change to the millage rate. The first budget hearing will be Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 5:30 p.m. at Town Hall, and the second will occur during the regular Sept. 14 meeting.
"There is no proposed changes to the millage rate. It will remain at 5.56, which is what was approved at the last meeting," the staff presenter said while summarizing the timetable and statutory requirements. The presenter also said the advertised rollback rate for notice purposes is 5.3209 mills and noted that a supermajority (0.667) is required by state law for final millage approval.
The town will publish the preliminary budget online and host a budget workshop on Aug. 19 to review the preliminary numbers. Staff invited residents to contact the town office with questions and said budget materials would be included in the town's email blast when available.
No formal change to the millage was made at the meeting; commissioners were informed of the schedule and the public-notice requirements. The town encouraged residents to review the materials online and attend the Sept. 8 hearing if they want to comment on the proposed budget.
