Highway foreman reports tractor and boom-mower repairs needed; parts backordered

The Tinmouth highway foreman (Speaker 6) told the Select Board on Oct. 9 that town equipment needs attention: a tractor that will not disengage four-wheel drive, a leaking seam on the front axle, and boom-mower cylinders with aging seals that should be repacked.
"The tractor... there's a controller that takes it out of 4 wheel drive that the tech said they have to do some more work on because they can't figure out why it won't disengage," the foreman said. He recommended sending the tractor to Salem Farm Supply for repair and to have the boom-arm cylinders resealed and repacked. The foreman also said he has tried to obtain rebuild kits for six months, and noted the long lead times complicate quick fixes. Members asked for rough cost estimates to be developed for the next meeting.
