Select Board closes Tinmouth town-plan hearing; adoption set for next meeting

The Chair opened a hearing on the proposed update to the Tinmouth town plan and invited public comment before seeking to close the hearing for formal adoption at a later meeting. “The purpose of the meeting is to review and receive comments on the proposed update of the Tinmouth town plan,” the Chair said at the start of the session.
Staff and planning commissioners told residents the draft is largely an updated version of the 2017 plan that incorporates recent data and state-required language. “There’s not a lot of major changes in here. It’s basically the 2017 plan with the amendments that were done in 2020,” said a staff member who described the regional review process and the need to meet state regulations. Commissioners emphasized the document can be amended after adoption and that the enhanced energy plan and other items will be added through a separate amendment process.
After hearing public concerns about document transparency, the Chair moved to close the hearing on adopting the town plan. The motion was seconded and approved on a voice vote. Board members agreed the Select Board would consider formal adoption at its next meeting; staff said the regional commission must still review and certify conformance with state rules before finalization.
An executive session followed to consult with the town attorney; the board announced no decisions came out of the session and adjourned at 06:02.
