The council on Aug. 14 approved a use permit (24‑0325) for Amazing Childcare and Learning Academy LLC to operate a daycare at 1416 Todd's Lane.
Chief planner Donald Whipple presented the application, noting the site sits near Forest Elementary, a religious facility that already operates a daycare, and the Northampton Community Center. The existing 3,200‑square‑foot building includes classrooms and support rooms; staff told council the proposed hours are Monday–Friday, 6 a.m.–6 p.m., with up to 10 employees and a maximum enrollment of 51 children in the current floorplan. Staff recommended approval with 11 conditions addressing hours, traffic circulation, capacity, outdoor play screening, floor‑plan inspection and certificate of occupancy. Applicant representative Angela Bennett told the council the applicant appreciates staff’s work and will comply with the conditions. Council voted to approve the use permit with the 11 conditions.
