The commission approved a resolution adopting Traffic Control Order No. 163 to authorize installation of no-parking signs following completion of the Austin Street and South River reconstruction project.
"This makes the most sense with the school being right there. This will hopefully give some relief to those homeowners that live along that street that people will not be parking right up into their their yard space, their driveway approaches," Eric said when explaining the recommended restriction. Staff described the no-parking zones as primarily on the south side of Austin Street and the west side of South River Street near a curve, where residential driveways are concentrated. The motion was moved, seconded and carried with no recorded opposition.
Commission discussion was brief and focused on implementation timing; staff said signage would follow completion of the street work and that contractors were expected to finish soon. The change is intended to improve driveway access and student pick-up safety near the adjacent school.
