Weybridge Planning Commission to mail household survey as part of Town Plan update

The Weybridge Planning Commission on Feb. 18 discussed planning for Town Meeting and a townwide household survey intended to inform the next Town Plan update. Jeff Olson said he will present a short overview of the Planning Commission and the role of the Town Plan, noting that "the State requires periodic Town Plan updates." Katie Raycroft-Meyer, from the Addison County Regional Planning Commission, advised the commission to keep the survey focused on questions important to the commission and to make it short to increase response rates. "We should ask questions that are important to us and minimize the broad demographic questions. Shorter surveys will have more responses," Katie said.

Commissioners agreed a paper copy of the survey will be mailed to every Weybridge household and posted on the town website. Members discussed using survey results to shape Town Plan narrative sections and goals; Katie noted that regional planning staff have funding to update the town's Enhanced Energy Plan and suggested channeling requests for staff assistance through her. Jeff Olson asked members to bring proposed goals for their assigned Town Plan sections to the next Planning Commission meeting.
