County audit prep finds two certificates of deposit misposted to General Fund

While reviewing expected revenue and expenditures for the 2024–2025 budget, Judge Eric Ramos told the court that staff found a posting error during audit preparation. Two certificates of deposit — $250,000 and $225,000 — that belonged to the Road and Bridge fund were entered into the General Fund.
Ramos said the county currently had $781,452 on hand and a $500,000 certificate of deposit listed; with spending adjustments and restraint on monthly expenditures (the court discussed an approximate 8% monthly spending rate), he said the county should end the year in the black. The court did not take immediate budget-adoption action at the special term; staff will continue audit work and report back as needed.
