County engineer: 60‑inch culvert chosen by property owner; bridge work and detour dust control underway

Jackson County Engineer Jaden Shekel briefed the board on multiple road and drainage items, including a culvert replacement, an entrance permit and ongoing bridge construction.
Shekel said a hydraulic study and topographic survey found a 54‑inch tube would be sufficient for the Calvert site on 267th Street, but the property owner plans to install a longer 60‑inch pipe to maintain current flow: “a 54 inch tube would actually be of sufficient size... he's gonna stick with a 60 inch just to eliminate our if current one's a 60 inch.” The county will perform the installation and the owner will provide the pipe; the owner plans to buy a roughly 70‑foot length to allow gentler slopes and reduce backfill needs. The board approved a residential entrance permit for Troy Seeverding (Bellevue Township, Sec. 12).
Shekel also updated supervisors on bridge construction: coffer‑dam work to place the south pier and driving the last pile on the north abutment are in progress. He discussed detour traffic and dust control, noting some adjacent gravel roads will receive targeted dust control applications where local traffic and washboarding create maintenance concerns.
