Council approved an intergovernmental agreement to formalize jail services the city had provided in practice but lacked a current contract for in recent years. The presenter said the contract had only minor changes from previous agreements, including a $5 daily rate increase that the presenter said would take effect Jan. 1, 2026. The presenter emphasized the city would continue to provide transportation and security at hospitals for detained misdemeanants while they await return to custody.
The council moved and approved the contract by voice vote with no recorded roll call. The presenter said the agreement reflected arrangements that had been in place informally and represented the city’s resumption of a written contract for jail services.
