The Soap Lake City Council voted unanimously to direct the City Planner to inform the Washington State Department of Commerce of the city’s intent to adopt the 2025 Comprehensive Plan and accompanying Critical Areas Ordinance amendments and to direct the City Attorney to draft an adopting ordinance to be ready by the end of the 60‑day comment period.
City Planner Kovach said "corrections have been made after hearing public comments and suggestions from the government entities involved," and the motion (M/Bryson, S/Woodhouse) carried without opposition. The council recorded the action as part of its old-business agenda.
The direction begins the formal step toward adoption under the Department of Commerce review timeline; the City Attorney was assigned to prepare the adopting ordinance to return to council following the comment period.
