Soap Lake council adopts ordinance creating salary commission

The Soap Lake City Council on May 7 adopted Ordinance 2025-1350 to establish a Salary Commission under RCW 35.21.015. Councilmember Carson moved the ordinance and Councilmember Arnold seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
City Attorney Norton explained that the commission would be used as needed to define powers, duties and eligibility requirements and that Chapter 2.48 of the Soap Lake Municipal Code would be amended to allow salaries to be set by that commission. The ordinance was assigned number 2025-1350 and will take effect as provided in the ordinance language.
