Chair Rich Turner told commissioners the town's Hazard Mitigation Plan expires in November and must be updated on a five-year cycle, and said FEMA and Vermont Energy Management will be contacting the town about the update. "Our local Hazard Mitigation Plan is due in November, every 5 years it needs to be updated," Turner stated during the meeting.
Turner recommended starting work in the fall and noted that towns often budget roughly $10,000 for the update and will typically issue an RFP for consultant services. He suggested the mitigation update could be coordinated with the broader town plan work driven by the Municipal Planning Grant, so related tasks and budgets could be combined where appropriate.
