Clinton County approves $2,500 lifetime membership in Iowa Association of Port Authorities

The Clinton County Board of Supervisors voted July 13 to fund a one-time, $2,500 lifetime membership in the Iowa Association of Port Authorities (IAPA).
Supervisor Jim Irwin explained the context: the National Waterways Conference will be held in late August in Moline, and six Mississippi River counties — Dubuque, Jackson, Clinton, Scott, Muscatine and Louisa — have formed the Iowa Association of Port Authorities to advocate at the state level for the creation of a Maritime Division within the Iowa Department of Transportation. The board record states: “MOTION made by Supervisor George to authorize funding for the Iowa Ports Authority at a lifetime membership level of $2500.” The motion carried by unanimous roll-call vote.
The contribution replaces repeated annual dues with a one-time lifetime membership intended to support coordinated state advocacy on inland waterways and port infrastructure.
