Acting Chief Geates reported that a surplus-audit of department items has been completed and that officers have switched to lighter summer uniforms. He said new officers are spending time with Code Enforcement Volunteer Ross and that officers will begin issuing some infractions in coordination with code enforcement efforts.
Geates also told the council that officers will start carrying 9mm firearms and that the department's rifles will be updated. Code Enforcement Volunteer Ross added that the city has reissued 60 dog licenses to date and that he will schedule a public meeting with the new county noxious-weed officer.
