Soap Lake swears in Chief Canady; department presents two awards

Mayor Peter Sharp administered the oath of office to Chief Canady at the Soap Lake City Council meeting on Aug. 20. After being sworn in, Chief Canady told the council he "would like to see Soap Lake be a safe and welcoming community." The ceremony was followed by two departmental recognitions.
Mayor Sharp and Chief Canady presented a "Chief of the Year" award to Officer Geates for his service as the department's acting chief and a "Heat of Gold" award to Administrative Assistant Jody Siebert for her service to the department and city. Robert Hendrickson, identified in the minutes as the Police Chief from the City of Pacific, attended and offered congratulations to the newly sworn chief.
