Council waives security bond for Lyter Elementary land-development plan

Council approved the Lyter Elementary School land-development plan on Feb. 2 and agreed to waive the usual financial security bond. Borough Solicitor Mr. Kenyon told council the project had a completed application and engineer approval, and said waiving the bond was legally and financially feasible because the school district and the borough are both taxing agencies and the school already has funds to finish the project.
Dr. Tina Kline moved to approve the land-development application with the bond waiver and Misty Emick seconded; the motion carried with no recorded opposition. The council made no additional funding commitments and the solicitor characterized the waiver as a cost reduction for taxpayers given the district’s available resources.
