The Abilene City Council approved several land-use items after staff presentations and brief public hearings.
Tim Littlejohn presented Conditional Use Permit 2026-08 to allow contractor services at 411 E South 11th St for overhead door company operations; P&Z recommended approval and the council adopted the permit with no public opposition. Council also approved zoning case 2026-28 to change approximately 0.36 acres on Barrow Street from RS-6 to general commercial after staff noted notifications and P&Z support.
Separately, council considered a PD amendment (case 20226-30) to permit medium-density residential and patio homes at 3626 Bogle Ave. Planning staff described proposed setbacks, parking and buffering requirements; a resident raised flooding concerns for that part of town during the public hearing. Council removed the Type A buffer condition and approved the amendment with updated conditions to require a 20-foot garage setback, two off-street parking spaces and sidewalks to promote walkability.
Motions for these items carried with recorded unanimous votes. Staff will implement the adopted conditions and record the approvals in the planning files.
