Commission weighs work-plan priorities: arts plan, focus-area study and transportation

On the arts plan, Wilkes characterized the Loudoun County Arts Plan as informational and said recommendations from Purcellville could be folded into the town’s comprehensive plan. "The arts plan... it's more or less a way for you to track what's going on with this plan and a way for you to simply receive information," the director said.
Several commissioners expressed skepticism that the arts plan should consume commission time or town resources, and the chair urged the commission to focus on transportation priorities. "I think that's really important. I know that we need to get into a new transportation plan. Ours goes back to 2009," the chair said, citing traffic and school-related peak flows as planning drivers. Director Wilkes said a draft traffic study exists but is not yet complete.
Commissioners agreed to continue monitoring these items, prioritize transportation issues during the five-year comprehensive plan review and to bring a checklist or short demonstrations of proposed amendments to future meetings for discussion.
