Council adopts new speed limits on Hardwick Road after staff speed study

Max Johnson, director of public works, presented a staff speed study and recommended codifying three sections of Hardwick Road into the municipal code with 35 mph limits for the main segments and 40 mph for a short leg to Antley.
"So this will allow that, to be 35 miles an hour," Johnson said while describing the three sections and the basis in a speed study. During the public hearing, resident Tammy Fogle noted the small fiscal impact for sign replacement and asked that the city be clearer about which budget covers sign costs and street maintenance.
Staff clarified that street signs come from the Sign, Signals, and Lighting division budget. Council moved and approved the speed‑limit modification as recommended by staff.
