The Purcellville Planning Commission voted to add two discussion items to tonight’s agenda: (11a) a status update and review of proposed amendments to the five-year comprehensive plan and (11b) an update to planning commission bylaws.
Commissioner Hombach moved to include both items after Chair Reis explained that the draft agenda initially lacked discussion items. "I move, I, Commissioner Hombach, move to include item discussion item 11a, 5 year comprehensive plan, proposed amendment review status... and item 11b, planning commission by laws update," Hombach said. The motion was seconded and approved 7–0.
Council liaison reported that the Town Council, at its Feb. 11, 2025 meeting, will consider a motion that could formally direct the planning commission to initiate the five-year comprehensive-plan review and asked the chair for an acceptable timeline. "At the 02/11/2025 town council meeting... there is an item on the agenda that includes possible motion to give direction to the planning commission to initiate a 5 year comprehensive plan review," the liaison said.
Commissioners discussed next steps, including preparing a high-level schedule and prioritizing amendments to present to the council. Several volunteers agreed to draft an initial timeline and a demonstration amendment for the next meeting.
