Resident raises emergency-access concerns as Planning Commission approves Dearden subdivision with 3rd West as main road

During the public-comment period, Diana Baker, a resident at 276 West Center Street, told the council she was concerned about emergency access and the substandard width of West Center Street for the Dearden development. Baker asked why the developer was being required to "put in 3rd West when 4th West was already in process," and cited worries that the width would hamper emergency response.
City Manager Jeremy Kimpton responded that he would investigate the issue further. Earlier in the meeting, Planning Commission representative Ken Ormond reported the commission’s Jan. 16 decision to approve the TJD (Dearden) Subdivision and to designate 3rd West as the main road; Ormond also noted the commission postponed discussion of Neff’s trailer park for lack of preparation. The council did not take formal action on the resident’s concern at this meeting; staff follow-up was promised.
