Mayor proclaims appreciation for city manager Keane Register as he retires

Mayor Bobby Gutierrez read a proclamation recognizing City Manager Keane Register’s years of service to the City of Bryan and thanking him for leadership through periods of fiscal recovery and development. The proclamation recited Register’s education, industry background and noted that under his leadership the Traditions and Lakewalk area had generated more than $500 million in value and roughly $3 million annually in tax revenue, and referenced a proposed semiconductor facility as part of future development discussions.

Keane accepted the proclamation and thanked council and staff. In his remarks he said, "I thank I thank you very much for that, and I thank everybody, for being here." Councilmembers offered personal tributes and anecdotes; the mayor closed with appreciation for Keane’s stewardship and wished him well in retirement. No formal replacement action was taken during the meeting; the mayor and council described ongoing gratitude and recognition for the outgoing city manager’s records of service.
